Outsource Housekeeping Tasks

General housekeeping tasks are ranked the least enjoyable by Care staff, indicating that outsourcing this work would lead to enhanced job satisfaction and time to focus on more enriched responsibilities.

Summarised of observation findings:

• An estimated 10% of time is spent on housekeeping tasks, such as dishwashing after mealtimes and general area cleaning​

Outsourcing housekeeping tasks such as general cleaning and dishwashing can free up time for Care staff to pursue other tasks.

The desired benefits include:

• Enhanced employee experience through reduction of least enjoyable tasks
• ​Enhanced role attractiveness​
• Frees up staff capacity to attend to senior needs and to focus on senior interaction​

Nursing Home (SLEC, Ren Ci, NTUC Health)​

• Only 14% of housekeeping tasks to be completed by Care staff, including cleaning of nursing tools and tidying seniors’ bed
• Projected 7.7% reduction in proportion of shift dedicated to housekeeping tasks

Senior Care Centre

• Projected 8% reduction in proportion of shift dedicated to housekeeping tasks
